I would say it is a good deal. I paid $2900 for my '97 used Sport a year ago. Not that you will need it or anything but, does it come with a warranty? If it is new it should. A brand new 97' Sport...man I wish I could have found that a year ago.

When I bought the Sport it had a DG pipe, Wiesco .020 piston, trail porting, 1 lb. lightened flywheel, V-Force cage and reeds, K&N with a modified airbox and it would keep up with some stock Banshee's, most of the time getting beat but not by much. I now have a full HPD race motor/pipe and it will take a stock and most modified Banshee's. A highly modified Banshee is hard to beat. I've got a buddy with a Trinity 420 long rod Banshee that just plain flies...I can't beat him. My Sport will smoke my 440EX 4-5 lengths in 300' of sand. My 440 will beat most stock Banshees 1or 2 lengths in 300' of sand. Hopefully this gives you some kind of benchmark to judge by.

real4x4,

If you plan on riding through rough terrain, you'll need a chain tensioner for it. Other than that, you'll need a pipe, clutch kit (preferably with a roller secondary) 39mm PWK carb, high compression head, reeds, porting, Wiseco piston and modify the air box in order to "beat" a Banshee. All of the mods I've listed may be a bit of over kill, but you can never really take too many chances.

The Polaris puts up a good fight until it tops out, then the Banshee (be it stock or modified) blows by.

Sounds like a good deal on that quad if it has never been ridden. I think you'd be happy with it.

Mine's for sale too, $2500 takes it.

See ya,

-Josh

Well, I'm selling it cause I don't really have a need for two quads. I find myself riding the Banshee every time I go out and I hate to see the Polaris just sitting there. The reason I prefer the Banshee is just because of the weight difference while jumping or riding fast on the trails. To tell you the truth I actually prefer the Polaris for strictly trail riding over the Banshee. The only problem is we never just to "trail riding". We always end up at some jump or something like that.

Originally my goal was to build my Polaris up and try to make it as fast as my buddies Banshee, but I just didn't have the time or money for it. With it's current mods it will beat a Banshee up until about 50mph or so, and then the Banshee goes by and keeps on going. Rather than dumping the money in to get some reeds and porting done on it just to make it even with a Banshee, I just went out and bought a Banshee. Now I have a quad that is as fast as I wanted the Polaris to be, and it is a lot lighter and more suited for my type of riding. Don't get me wrong though, the Banshee has a lot of flaws, and there are a lot of circumstances where I like the Polaris better.

To be honest, if I had the money to invest into the Polaris I would keep it and build it into "the perfect machine". Unfortunatly I have a lot of other priorities before that.

Again, I'm not saying that my reason for choosing the Banshee over the Sport is because it's "a better quad"...The reason that I am choosing the Banshee over the sport is because it's the better quad FOR ME.

The Polaris is a great quad for somebody who stays on the trails, but I don't.

Like I said...I'm asking $2500 for it if anybody is interested. You can check out the pics at the link below.
