Ok guys and gals, I need your help. I have a 99 Scrambler 500 4x4 that insist on running with a loose chain. I am constantly adjusting a tightening this chain. On a 5 hour ride today, I had to adjust and tighten it twice. Is this a common thing for these or am I doing something wrong? The chain is in good shape as well as the sprockets. I follow the manual when I do this and I am torquing the bolts to 60ft lbs.
HELP!!!!

I have a 99 SC500 also but have never had a problem keeping the chain tight. I believe there are four bolts that need to remain tight. The two that clamp around teh axel housing that are visible from the rear and the two that hold teh upper and lower caliper mount in place. If there are all tight, is it possible that you may have gotten grease or some other lubricant on these clamping points that is allowing them slip?

My sons trailboss was like that, I fanally replaced the chain and have not adjusted it in 3 months. I bought the chain from the dealer 69 dollars they must be using a better quality chain is my only guess. I can relate to what you are saying about adjusting it all the time. Try a new one is all I can suggest.
