has anyone had a clunking or knocking sound coming from their transmisson. it doesn't really sound like it could be a bearing failure, because you can't hear the noise continuly. could'nt find any thing wrong with the chain, the noise can also be felt by placing a fingure on the trans. while running the machine on jackstands. it does this in foward or reverse, and not all the time. thought it might be a broken tooth on a gear but then you would notice it all the time. there can't be that many parts in this transmison. thanks for any help

I also had some knocking noises coming from my TBoss 325 tranny. You said you could hear it when you put your finger on the tranny? Are you talking about the plastic cover that goes over the tranny belt on the left side? If so mine did the same thing when it was about 2 weeks old. I turned down the idle and it went away after a while. If it is coming from around the plastic cover you may have something in there (rock???). It's not too hard to take the cover off, wouldn't hurt to take a look.

Mine makes a clicking noise when letting off the gas just before it starts to "free wheel" and then while it is free wheeling it makes a pretty loud whinning. It has done this since it was new. I was told that the "counter weights is making the noise? Anyhow I haven't had any problems with it so I just got used to the sound and keep on ridding

I've had the same problem with my Tboss when i let off the throttle. i changed the belt but it didn't help. It doesn't happen when my idle is high and it doesn't freewheel...

My belt also whines when going downhill. When going down hill I tap the throttle to keep the RPMs up but not enough to accelerate, this stops the belt from whining. I don't know if the winning is bad for the belt but......

So vlucdog did you take the belt cover off. I am curious if you found something because like I said the knocking noise went away on mine. As I remember belt cover is not exactly on a rigid mount (it will move up and down it little force). Maybe when you press on it you are pressing the cover into the belt. Does it do it with the belt cover off?

I just started hearing this knocking on my TB also coming from the left side of the motor/tranny covers. This bike probably doesn't have 1 hour on the motor yet either. I also think that my idle is very high on this bike and needs to be set down. Even if it's just to stop the grinding when I put it in forward or reverse. It's pretty bad, sounds like a heavy tractor shifting without synced gears. Is that common on these types of bikes?

If your TB is grinding when you put it into gear than your idle is too high and it needs adjusted. Mine did it when it was new but the salesman showed me where to adjust the idle at when I bought it. Adjust your idle and see what happens.
