Where is all the comments about the new Polaris 700, there seems to be very little, when a new quad comes out usually there is a lot of activity on the forums!

It appears to me from talking to various owners/riders of ATVs at my local riding area that there is very little interest in the 700cc Sportsman in this area. The biggest thing I've been hearing is about the weight issue of the new 700.ATVers that have been around a long time like myself, dont seem to want a ATV that weighs that much?At least thats what im hearing!

The dealership where I get my 00 Xplorer serviced from had ONE 700 Sportsman, they did NOT have a buyer on it for 3 wks.I think thats also an indication that there is little desire for the new Sportsman,at least around here.Another dealership also sells the 700cc Sportsman and the new Grizz. They cant keep the new Grizz in stock,in fact, its very hard to find a single dealer in my area with one.

Other States or areas may be differant?

Bill

From what I've read in other ATV forums, the 700 seems to be experiencing some "new model problems". I have been considering a new big bore utility, and I never gave the 700 a thought. I just can't see riding how I like to ride on a 740 pound machine. As for sales, the local Polaris dealers have the same 700s they started with, and Grizzlies and Praires seem to be flying off the shelves.

My Dealer dosent even get them on the floor and there sold.
I decided to wait and see when they come up with 700HO.
I havent seen the 700 run yet,or talk to anyone with one.
so I couldent tell you what they think.
I agree if it was that great a bike there would be more talk
As far as the wieght goes,It dont bother me.
I can manhandle the HO like it's a sportbike. And I'm not hurting after a day of riding
600lbs or 700lbs,you better have a winch

I think the reason that not many people are talking about the 700's is because they ,like myself, are out rideing it! I have'nt had any problems with mine and the powerful twin makes it seem lighter than it is. It does'nt feel like a tank when I trail ride, but it has enough *** behind it to pull a heavy load. I'm not a die hard polaris fan and I have owned all of the other brands, but the 700 is the perfect quad for me....all 740 lbs. of her!

My dealer can hardly keep them on the floor also. He gets three or four in and they're out in a week or two. So I guess they're sellin good here. The Scrambler 400 X's are doin good too.

Price is a major factor. The Prarie 650 and Grizzly 660 can both be bought for around $1000 less than the sp700.........and this plays into the equation big time.

As far as the weight......sure the SP700 is a pig.......so was the SP500, and it was a number 1 seller......and these are sport/utility quads. Would I like to see the SP700 weigh 650 pounds or less??? Sure I would, but I won't count it out because it weighs 740.

We raced a stock 01' 500 H.O vs the new 700 and the 700 walked from the Sportsman 500 H.O pretty bad. A nice machine, but too expensive! My dealer has sold 2 of them already and is putting together the 3rd one now. No price breaks on them either, he said if you don't want it someone will.

I think that most were dissapointed when it finaly came out. People have been talking about it for over a year and building it up. When the 500HO came out it was kind of a surprise and everyone was happy about it. It had upgrades that addressed the problems that people wanted. The 700 has been talked about for so long and wasn't really all that much different from the 500HO. By different I mean it has basically all the same features. It is bigger and stronger and has been totaly redesigned but still mostly all the same features. So when you ride it, it is like riding a faster 500. I think the 700 is well worth the money because I like power and it has more potential to make even more power easily. Other than that there isn't anything that stands out and shouts hey I'm new and inovative. If it had something like EFI, 12 inches of suspension travel, 27 inch tires from the factory or something totaly new to the quad market to really set it appart then we would probably see more interest in the forums. As of now I kind of think of it as a really hopped up and refined 500. I would personaly like a 700 Scrambler with IRS. To me that would be the ultimate quad for where I ride.

I test drove one of these rode nice for weight handled well, have a 98 Xplorer now. But after driving down a rutty muddy trail on the way back found a piece that looked like rubber intake (fresh) laying on trail that had fallen off. This particular dealer was a real lieing a$$ hole so there went my 700 searching around here. Decided to stick with the Xplorer a while longer.
