SteveXplor,

I guess diehard Honda owners probably won't really admit to what they've been subjecting their bodies to all these years until they throw a leg over the 650 Rincon next year. Once you've ridden IRS(any brand)you're hooked. Why is the Grizzly arguably the hottest thing going right now? Lightweight IRS w/big motor and locking diff.---period. Like you said, who wants to be sore after 100 miles?

Elroy,

Glad to hear there's somebody else that doesn't mind the maintenance. I've got a pre-HO with all the problems that should've been fixed a LOT sooner than '01. Sure, I'd like an HO; SP700; or Grizzly and have a bulletproof 300 Fourtrax. Still love my overweight, underpowered SP. Maybe because its owner has the same problems!

John

After all the post about mife wife preferring the new Rubicon, she complained that her body aches after this weekend riding in Oklahoma. Hmmm... she never said that after a days ride on the HO. I told her I am more than happy to sell it and buy her another HO now that she has learned her lesson. She says she will keep the Honda for now. We will see how long this last.

Honran,
You point out that you have had minimal motors problems... great. I do not need to argue that point with you. I know what is going on around here, and I admit, most Honda problems are owner inflicted, but the same goes for Polaris.

I am not a brand loyalist. I currently have a Prairie 300. When I upgrade, all will get a far evaluation.

I have said it before and I will say it again. If you are telling me Honda is the most reliable, I say prove it. Don't give me anicdotal (sp?) evedence of number of posts on the connection or you never here that in the Honda forum. Don't give me I work at the (insert your favorite brand here) dealer and we never see a broke (same brand). I want to see a statistical tabulation that includes 1) number of atvs sold 2) number and cost to repair owner caused problems 3) number and cost to repair defects 4) types of modifications on each repaired quad 5) age of quad repaired ect. Until I see that, when you say Honda is the most reliable you are just rattling your gums.

Last week me and my wife bought here a new Ford SuperCrew. For reserching autos you can go to JD Power, Consumer Report and others and get true data, not just opinion.

Until you can prove a reliability statement don't make it. If you are giving your opinion, state it as your opinion. We are all intitled to our opinions. We are all intitled to post those opinions here. Don't state them as fact until you are prepared to back it up with statistics.

I also ride a street bike (cruser). I see a similar atitude from some Honda atv owners that I see from some Harley owners. It becomes more like a religon than a peace of machinery.

SORRY I OFFENDED YOU PEOPLE, BUT IF YOU HAVE ALL THESE PROBLEMS AND ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT OR REALIZE IT THEN I'M NOT YOUR WORST PROBLEM. READ YOUR OWN POSTS, OR ARE THEY COMING ON MY PUTER DIFFERENT THAN ON YOURS. BECAUSE I SEE PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM ON POST AFTER POST ,READ WHAT 500SCR POSTED, WHATS UP WITH THAT? AND THAT IS NORMAL TO SEE. HONDA OWNERS WILL BE POSTING THERE PROBLEMS AS SOON AS WE ENCOUNTER THEM, SO IN SHORT IF YOU ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO TAKE TRUTHFUL CRITISISM THEN I'M SORRY, AND I MUST HAVE DREAMT ABOUT BELT PROBLEMS, TRANS FAILURES, 4X4 FAILURES AND SO ON . SO I WILL STAY IN MY WORLD AND NOT MIX YOURS UP, I'LL JUST READ AND CHUCKLE TO MYSELF AND HOPE YOU DON'T HEAR ME . P.S. I TYPE ALL CAPS BECAUSE I PREFER TOO!

Ya know I rode with a guy just like this guy guy once(ashole).
As soon as I met him it was Honda this honda that, man this guy got on your nerves.Even the other honda guy were telling him to shut up.He just wouldent shut up about Honda.
There was 12 of us and besides a trailblazer I was the only polaris.
He was on the ruby and he dident need a winch because the ruby will NEVER get stuck(HIS WORDS)
So of course I take him out and get him stuck(not that hard to
do, either). Then I made him stand on his seat and YELL out loud I'M stuck pull me out(something like that)so I drive into the pit and push him out.
Well now the guys all pissy for the next 2 hrs and starts that Honda bulletproof crap
dont ya know before we got to the trucks his quad acts up,he makes it truck and leaves without saying bye to anyone.I never found out what was wrong with his ruby that day.............................
But I UNDERSTAND HE RIDES A 500HO NOW.Ande if he ever rides with me again I'm gonna punk-slap the **** out of him(just for gp)

Honran01,
will you stop shouting????? Why do you hang around here? Since you do so very much, its obvious you are VERY curious about Polaris. Its ok, if you want to own one go get one, and you will be more than entitled to your opinion about Polaris. Since you dont own a Polaris how in the world can you comment on our brand????????? Admit it, your Polaris-curious, HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
PD

Copy and paste.

Never seem to hear a Honda guy brag about their low output engines, 3 wheel drive, rough ride, ect. But HEY they run forever. LOL

polarisdood, i'll type small case so you can understand ,or read ,whichever. i am always courous about other brands as you probably are ,but that curiosity turn around wheh i ride them. i had a 2000 kodiak here for 11mo. or so, a friend from chicago left it here , other than being a low quality ,vibrating piece of crap i guess it was ok. 3 people i ride with own polaris and suzuki ,which i have ridden , no thanks too mickey mouse, polaris shaft drive front and chain rear ,whats up with that?. although attic rat admittedly has come a long ways ,and would not be a bad wheeler. well i've kicked your little bee hive for the last time, but if you can find some thing truthfull and substantiated ,come to honda and say it yor guys are always welcome......... HONRAN01 sorry i " shouted " that honran01 thing....................................

Ive been reading this post and I keep telling mysely to stay out of it.

First off..Greg I follow some of your posts in 2 different forums. I have made it very clear on numerous occaisions that I will not get into any type of bashing so I understand why you have stayed away for a while. I hope this post doesnt change your mind and you continue to post on this board.

I ride a 97 Scrambler 500 4x4. I was very leary of buying Polaris when I did purchase this quad new. I had heard all of the unreliable labels attached to Polaris. I shopped around at ALL the dealers for approx 2 months before I purchased and rode every quad that either a buddy owned or that a dealer would let me park my *** on. I am not a mechanic or an expert on ATVs. My conclusions havent changed MUCH since 97 when I did my research, and since then I have been on a number of different quads. So here it goes.

Polaris. Had reliability issues a few years ago, but seems to have gotten a better handle on this and made hugh leaps in this department.
Polaris has been very good at pushing the envelope so to speak with different or better additions to quads, IRS, floorboards, one of the best 4wd systems yet to date, for example.
Polaris is still lagging in my opinion in the weight department but that doesnt seem to be a very big issue with many people.
Polaris produces a fantastic lineup of quads that can do many things very well but not neccesarily any one thing absolutely the best. Except for mudding.

Suzuki. Good utility quad and thats about it.

Kawasaki. Making big leaps in 2001, but has been stagnant for many years.

Yamaha. Quality quads with nice selection in their lineup.
Having what seems to be reliability issus with some of the newer models.
Utility quads vibrate and seem to be a bit tippy feeling.
Also making nice steps in 2001 and 02.

AC. Not much exposure and still thought of as a utilty quad for the most part.

Bombardier. Very nice sport quad but stuck in that utility muck with the rest of the lineup. I have never ridden a Bombardier so I wont form any opinion of this brand until I can personally hop on one or have a reliable source give me their opinion.

Honda. Very reliable. Very conservative. Nice sport quad in the 400ex that has quickly fallen out of the picture in the displacemant war.
Utility quads are a bit slow and dont offer either the ground clearance or the power to play as well as either Polaris, Yamaha or Kawi right now.

Keep in mind that these are only my perceptions of ATVs right now, but there are many others that see it the same way. Im not saying that any one brand is the beat all KING of ATVs.

Honran01, I wouldnt argue with you on any of your points but that is only because I dont really care. I have never had a single issue with my quad and if you can say the same about yours then congrats lets go riding. I have seen most of the people I ride with have something either small or large happen with their quads over the years sometimes it needed to go to the shop sometimes it didnt and we fixed it at home. I dont think that makes any of my riding buddies brand of quad any better or worse than mine just maybe it wasnt meant for what we were doing at that moment or maybe it was just time for a particular part to break or malfunction. I would have no problem buying a Honda product Ive had a VFR750 a CBR900RR a 600 Hurricane 3 different CRs and enjoyed them all but at the present time Honda doesnt make a "Sport Utility" quad that can do what I want my quad to do. That doesnt make Honda better or worse just not a viable option right now. I believe any quad will break under the strain of abuse and I also belive its possible to get a lemon from any dealer of any brand.
