6x6??
#3
My buddy has a 400 6X6 and brings it trail riding occasionally. I was pretty surprised at where it will go. All those wheels driving will take it over or up almost anything. It is hard to steer, though. Gives the arms and shoulders a work out on the trails.

I have seen a bunch of them in Lappland, northern Scandinavia. The Sami people keep reindeers in the highlands where they have to cross throuh rivers, and muddy wetlands. It is unbelievable where they ride with those 6X6. They are mostly overloaded with all kind of stuff and they still ride them where I never would think about riding a 4X4. But I really dont know how hard a 6x6 is to steer. I have never had the chance to ride one myself. Must be like a tank on solid surfaces.

I sold my 00 500 sp 6x6 last year, don't buy one unless you need a work horse or have a need to go in the worst riding conditions possible. They are boring to ride because short of real deep water or cliffs it will go anywhere! My freinds would watch me try somewhere new & if I had any problem at all they would not try it.A 4x4 qaud is no comparison to where a 6x6 will go.It is kinda fun watching people try cause you get to pull them out.I bought traxs for mine & that made it like a bulldozer.Good luck

I have a 500 6x6 and so do 2 of my friends. They are great. They aren't boring on the trail at all unless you're wanting to ride it like a Scrambler. I also have a Scrambler. The 6x is great trail riding here in Alaska. It will go almost anywhere and has the same engine as the sportsman, so it doesn't lack power. It will do about 50 on the straights and it isn't as hard to steer as you might think. Check out the pics on our site. Since the Scrambler doesn't have low gear some of the trails are too slow paced for the 400 2 stroke. I decide which atv I take by the type of riding we'll be doing. I'm fortunate to have the best of both worlds by having a Scrambler and a 6x.
