Hey all, ive read about every thread on the different oil's everyones used. Im going to go with mobil1 but the OW40 is impossible to find. I live in florida, very hot climate here and when it is cold it never gets below 50F and as high as 90F. I am not sure what the closest to the OW40 would be ive seen 5W30 10W30 and 40 and thats about all i can find. Polaris dealers are just too dam far away to drive to so i need to get something from the local automotive store. Any suggestions?

Since the dry sump tank only oil's the motor, I would just use any of the weights you mentioned, you shouldn't have to use only 0w-40, I think Mobil-1 comes in 0W-30 anyway, no wet clutches to screw up, so use 10-30 or even the 15w-50, you'll be O.K.

The "0W" designation is more applicable to colder climates. But don't use less then the 40 weight. Any synthetic oil with viscosity ratings of 5W 50, 5W 40, 10W 40, 15W 50 etc. should be fine. See the chart in your owner's manual for the various temperature ranges.

I have heard of problems with people using the Mobile one oil. The only oils the mechanics recommend is the polaris, since it especially made per polaris specs or I believe the name is Amsol...........

The 15w 50 should easily be available...the red cap. It's not very thick really, certainly not enough to affect an atv's milage. It'll cover all temperetures you'll find in florida, (where there's a produce farmer panic bout everytime it freezes) On that note, I think I'll go scrape the ice off my seat and take an evening ride.

Amsoil does make a 0w-40. I use the Amsoil but 5w-30 Mobil 1 would work great. Either way they are 2 of the best oils out there.

"Use only Polaris Premmium 4 all Season synthetic oil or API certified "SH" oil. This is what the owners manual says. The way I understand it, as long as you use a API certified "SH" oil, you should be ok.I don't think the brand you use really matters that much as long as you don't mix brands or weights.

I plan to run Mobil DevVac1 in my Polaris. It has a 5W-40 rating which should be fine. The oil is hard to find. I buy it mail order from a place in Ohio and just have it delivered to my front door.
