I have a friend with a SC500 that has this exhaust. I must say, it made a hell of a difference in the power this machine puts out. I should also add that it also has a K&N filter.

He is curious if anyone else has this combo. If so, were you able to change the clutching for a more aggressive shift. He doesn't want to raise his engagement. What he wants is just harder engagement at his same rpm. Has anyone ever done this with only these two mods?

I can't believe that no one else out there has this White Bros exhaust on their SC500.

I have the K&N and White Bros exhaust on my Scram 500X and I noticed a big difference also. I did not change the clutching on mine. I don't know what Polaris did on the 500X but this thing hits really hard off the line, I have ridden several other 500's and they don't compare. Maybe you could check on some of the differences in part #'s, if he goes with whatever is on the X, he won't be dissapointed.

I have not really decided on a pipe for my Scram yet but have had a lot of options. Glad to hear that combo worked for you.

3tv,
If 64hp is a noticable improvement for you then I can tell you will NEVER see a noticable improvement from your 500. Just a guess, but I figure the HP on my 500 increased by maybe 5. When I bought the exhaust I didn't buy it thinking I would get any better performance, I just wanted something that looked and sounded better, but to my delight I got a power increase along with it. 5hp isn't gonna make you do wheelies if you can't now, but it will give a noticable increase in acceleration. Now clutch mods, thats a different story, when your not getting all of your possible power to the ground then suddenly you do, expect to start doing some wheelies. My guess is you did get some more power from your pipe and filter, you just couldn't tell until you got that power to the ground.

ScramblerX,

I did look at work to see if the clutches are the same and as I figured, they are. A SC500(2x4 or 4x4) use the exact same part numbers as the SC500X. I guess they could come from the factory different but the parts on my computer and micro fiche are the same. I would imagine that they are the same.

Contact HPD or RCR and get thier aggressive clutch kit. The clutch kit by itself will make more of a seat of the pants change than any of the pipes offered. Me and a friend went with HPD's clutch kit. Told him we wanted to drag race the bikes and set the clutch kit up the way he said and it made a massive difference and was still quiet.
