I just put my 2000 Sportsman away for the winter, with just over 3000 miles on the odometer, so far in the past two years I replaced a CV boot that a stick tore up and that is it. Been by far the best running toughest machine that I have ever owned. I owned Yamaha and Honda before Polaris and would never go back.

though i am not a big honda fan due to the suspencion not being 4 wheel independant, i would have to say a used honda 4x4 would be good for you. you only want to spend $4000.00. The engines on there machines are bullet proof, and there vary well made. Now, if money was no object, then i would have to say the grizzly 660! It does all the sportsman line does, and alot more. My friend has a sportsman, and he is an easy rider, to say the least. He is religious on the maintance, and still, in 2 years, has replaced all the tierod ends, the c,v's and the boots. He never complaines about it, couse he is a big polaris fan, but i see his frustration from time to time. My friends with there honda's only have great things to say about them, as i do for the grizzly. good luck in your search, and if i offended anyone here, it was not my intentions at all. As for riding atv's. any atv is better than no atv!!!

Michgrizz660,
dont even worry about offending anyone with mentioning the minor repairs on your friends Polaris, after all, these guys are used to hearing me gripe a hell of alot worse than that about my Polaris repairs.

you can pick up used polaris 4x4s for less than 4000 if you look and know what you are looking for.I gave $3800 for my 96 425 Magnum 3 years ago w/trailer and winch.A year ago i bought a 96 400 sportsman for $800 it needed lots of work and TLC a young kid had it and never did anything but ride it.Both of these are high maintanence machines mainly because of the 3 chain set up and all the grease fittings. But i love both of them and am willing to put in the time to keep them in great shape.Oh yea does any one need a front bumper or rear rack if so let me know.
