To connect a rear light on a SP 700
#3
Ok 700guy, perfect, I thought it was this one. If you look at the electric diagram at page 140 of your owner manual, you can see a "18PUR" (purple) wire connect to plug E of the REV shift. This "18PUR" go to REV ACC (located below head lamps).
I'm going to buy a reverse light today and I'll give you news of my installation.
Thank you, Bye.

I tried the purple wire and had no luck on the 700. On my 500H.O. I used the purple wire to trigger a relay switch when shifted to reverse and it worked great. Tried the same thing on the 700 and got an "E" displaying on the digital gauge on the headlight pod. Let me know if you guys have any luck, maybe I didn't have something hooked up correctly.

No no, it works very well !
You must connect the ground wire of your rear light to the purple wire belows head lamps. To find this purpel wire (ready to be connected), you must remove, first, the front rack, then the front cover.
After connect the ground wire of your rear light to the purple wire, connect the 12V wire of your rear light to the 12V battery (with a fus if possible).
That's all, it's works perfectely, when you select reverse, your rear light will turn on automatically !

500DUSE,
The relay is not required for the 500, it was just for added circuit protection. I could swear that the purple wire on the 500 was positive. I didn't want to draw power from the purple wire so I just used the wire to trigger the relay and let all the power run through the relay. I've slept since I installed the light on the 500 so there is no telling what I really did.
jbourette,
Thanks for the info. All along I was thinking the purple wire was positive, so that's why it wasn't working for me. I don't know why I never thought to see if it was a ground.

I don't understand...
Connect like I explain before, my rear light turn on automatically when I select reverse. no problem. But, when I turn my ATV off, after 2 or 3 seconds, the nidle speedometre flash (indicate a fault condition, see owner manuel, page 56). When I undo the connection betwin the 12V rear light wire and 12V battery, the flashing needle stop. What's happen ? Does anyboy else has this trouble ?
