Whats involved in this ? Depends on your problem but. A couple of 99 cent washers behind the secondary clutch was my fix.

Any special tools? There is a tool for checking the alignment.

Is it a do-it-yourselfer? Yes.

How are the 589s on your sportsman? Can tell the difference in weight while riding? I hear they are rough on the hard packed ground? Do the front tire rub?

I am considering the 589 in the 25" size for my stock HO. I had Bearclaws on my last machine and may possible go with them or a set of Goodyear Mudrunners.

I love my 589's(ITP MS)
I tried the titans, super swampers and the muddrunners also
but this was my choice.Better sidebite and goes where I want it
to go,not where it want's to go
I dont run with them all the time, just when it's muddy.we were in a drought for awhile but we're finally getting some mud
Were going to Virgina in a couple weeks
and I'll put them on for that also

As far as a rough ride????????????
It's a 6ply tire with some monster lugs
so of course its not going to ride the same as stock.
but no I dont think it's rough

As far as rubbing...only if I hit the whoops hard

If I had the chance to do it again,I would pick the exact
same tire in a 25" size.Just because of the loss of top-end

Did you put the wheels on before the mods

I didn't notice much of a loss of speed with the tires. I had the tires on 3-400 miles before the power mods. I may have some 27/28" ITP 589MS by spring.

Hows the clutch coming along?

Going for the wheels huh.Go BIG or go home
I lose about 6-8mph with the 26's,but that on the speedo!?

I bailed on the clutch
Theres so many things wrong with this 500(not mine)it's amazeing.
It's been rolled countless times, once it went end over end 9 times before stopping(upstate NY).But he was still able to ride it home.
How's that for bulletproof
Broke the racks,bumpers,fenders,pod,pod light,floorboards,mud extenders,brake handle,thumb throttle,4x4 switch.
Well he never replaced anything, just used duct tapeHe dident even use black or green tape
The idle was way high so I backed it down ,I figured he did that because he lost his choke button............WRONG!He did it because if you make a slow right turn it would stall, left turn it takes off,
Okay siezed throttle cable, plus, leaking shifter box,cv's are shot,he greased it maybe 5 times since he bought it(about3000 miles)so bushings,u-joints,steering and suspension is shot also. The clutch cover is so mangled you dont have to worry aboutit when you get water in because it'll drain right out
Other then that, the wire ties and duct tape on the CV-joints are holding up pretty good

He's coming over now to pick it up,
I think he wants to wash it
