New to this please bear with me What is the advantage of an extended swingarm? 2nd.. Are the scramblers likely to break chains on small to moderate jumps or landings?

2002 scrambler 500 4x4 no mods as of yet

you would most likely get a longer swingarm for drag racing or hillclimbs because it helps alot in keeping the front end down. you lose handling and traction when you do this though.

It all depends on how far you extend the swing arm. Extending it only a couple of inches will actually improve handling and increase traction. If you go more than that then you start to loose traction.

Basically an extended swingarm alters the weight bias of the ATV.

2nd chains will break if they are not adjusted properly. If they are adjusted properly then you shouldn't have any trouble.
