I was plowing today (my first time) and was having some problem: when trying to reverse up the driveway it kept sliding to the right and when pushing snow forward on the sidewalk it also kept sliding to the right to where the right rear tire would slip off the curb. Needless to say it was quite a handful, not the easy snow removal process I had envisioned. I had the AWD switch "ON", but it seemed just the rear tires were turning, and that is what was causing my to slide. I had no front end pull. When I get time I'm going to mess with it and see if this is the case, but has anyone had this happen to them. If so, what was the problem?

Did you hold in the reverse overide button on the left handle bar?

No. Is that required for awd in reverse? Maybe I need to get out the owner's manual...

Yes.

Read the manual and follow the break-in procedure. Change the oil at 20 hours.

You will love the machine. We now have four Sportsmans.

It is a safty feature so that you don't pull a wheelie in reverse. It limits your speed in reverse and only allows awd to work in reverse when the overide switch is held in.

Wheelie in reverse!?!?! hmmm...I'll have to try that sometime

Thanks for all your responses, I'll have to remember that reverse button next time. Hopefully it will snow enough again, I have been waiting since October to use this plow. Probably was overkill for my 32x32 driveway and 200' of sidewalk, but it was worth the looks my neighbors were giving me while they were out shoveling.

Better be carefull if you are going to attempt a reverse wheelie!!
My buddy about flipped over his handlebars trying that stunt,
and when I "tested the waters" doing it, I talked real high pitched
for awhile, and could sit down for awhile...
Be prepared, as the machine launches in reverse, it will make you push
the throttle even harder, which can get you into trouble quick!
