Clutch springs
#5
67bullet,
Load it to where you are winding the spring tighter, not opening it up. I'm not sure which direction this is, but if you look at it, you can figure it out. If you preload it the wrong way, you will know..........your bike will rev high and barely move, like a slipping clutch on a manual machine. Once you put it on the bike, take it for a quick spin before you put the cover back on.......just to make sure you got it right.

67 Bullet,
Push helix down about 1" onto the spline & hold it there.
A friend is needed for this part<<<
While holding the helix, with your free hand hold the outer sheeve.
Get your mate to spin the inner sheeve 1/3 turn counter clockwise
Slide helix down shaft.
Install snap ring...Done

You are right But if you have a small weight scale like a fish scale you would get from Wal-Mart for 9.99 Hold the front side and use the scale and hook in a hole in rear and pull it, it should start moving (rotation) at 12lbs, if it does then your spring is preloaded right any less or any more its not right.
