I have a 2001 Trailblazer that I would like to pump up. The only mod that I have done is adding a K&N filter & Outer. I would like to install a complete pipe w/spark arrester, jet and clutch kit. I live in Arizona and do mostly desert trail riding. I will head to the mountains, about 7000' elevation, two or three times a year during the summer. I also will go to Glamis and play in the dunes during the winter. I figure I would need to change the jets between the two elevations. What do you recommend I do to acheive the most out of the 250? I plan on going to Glamis on President's Day weekend and would like to have more power by then. If you could let me know what you think. I planned on spending around four or five hundred dollars. I have checked out RCR, HPD and Hot Seat, but don't know what would give me the biggest bang for the buck.

TIA for your help

A pipe and a clutch kit will give you the best bang for the buck.
RCR or HPD is the way to go. Talk to Rick at RCR or Darrell at HPD.
Tell them what you plan on doing and they will get you going.

Even if you have a butt load of horse power, you still have to get traction.
If you ride the dunes alot, some flatter tires would be a good idea. Somethig like itp holshots or shredders, razers will give you supier traction with out having to go to paddles. Realetors will work even better! When i say flat i meen wide, with almost no curve on the top. A pipe will help and a not two radical clutch. A reed cage will help with throttle responce. And awiesco piston will also add al least 4 h.p. Good luk to trikin out your quad!

I also have an 01 TB .I just installed an Aaen pipe & only the green spring . Took it to my local dealer & had it rejetted w/ 130 main jet. After pipe was installed ,there was a noticible increase in hp, & a lot better sound. After it was jetted in by my dealer ( these guys build race quads & know thier stuff) the difference was incredible. To give you an idea, front end almost rises from dead stop(with no help) & comming out of a turn, front end rises big time (even leaning foward). Mid range acceleration has dramatically improved & top end is a little better. Dont know about your elevation, Im on the east cost (about 100' above sea level) I have $350 in this mod & it was worth every penny, cant wait until the weekend!!!

Hey, thanks for all of the replies. I have sent RCR an e-mail with my info and will give them a call. I received the Hot Seat catalog and was wondering if anyone had any input on the variable jet set-up they have? or is better to change jets with elevation changes? and how hard is it to do?

Does Aaen have a web site?

Aquadfan,
Somebody just posted a thread about the dial-a-jet just
a few days ago. It sounded pretty simple to me!

Tktmas,
I would say you should gain about 5-6 mph on top. Thats just
a rough guess but you will notice a big difference on the bottom end!

If you add a wiesco piston and get it bored alittle (like i did) along with a pipe kit and all that stuff, you will be expecting around 8-9mph change in top speed, will a litttle more botom end!

OK, I ordered RCR Stage 1 Performance Kit w/the midrange pipe today. Can't wait until it gets here and start wrenching. Thanks for all your help and I'll let you know how it runs when I get done.

Again, thanks
