Ok guys I was asking about my oil pump the other day and thanks to those who responded. It is fine. I am running a K&N with an outer and that is all I have done. The problem is that it smokes and is running very fat. What I discovered today when I removed the carb for inspection and a good cleaning was that the clip on the needle was in the next to bottom groove. I had not checked it assuming that it was in the correct factory position.

OK here is my question, It should be in the middle groove from the factory, right? I know that mid range meltdown is supposed to be an issue so I don't really want to go the wrong way with it. It seems in all logic that this could explain my problem with the smoke and running rich since most of my riding is done at part throttle. Thanks for the help.

This keeps getting stranger all of the time. Now I have discovered that my mystrey carb also has a 25 pilot jet instead of the 35 that the manaul supplement says it should have. What the crap were they thinking at the factory that day? If the needle was in the incorrect position and it has the wrong pilot jet this would probably explain my smoke and rich condition. Although it seems the 25 pilot would be on the lean side. So is my mix match carb here look to be my culprit?
