Has anyone experienced any coolant loss on the SP700? I realize that when the machine is new you will have to top off the coolant level once or twice as the machine purges itself of air. After 360 miles, I find myself topping off the fluid after almost every ride. The last time the coolant level was down to the word polaris on the recovery tank. Below the minimum mark. The fan seems to be working properly and I have not found any leaks at all. Where the h-- is it going? Any help would be appreciated. It does not seem to be over heating either.

Check the water pump cover very closely. From what I hear, 90% of coolant leaks on the 700s are from that area. I think the factory fix is an upgraded o-ring.

Farmr123 is correct. Most of them seem to leak around the black plastic waterpump cover. Mine leaked and I just added some Permatex to the stock o-ring and that solved my problems. Mine would only leak when I would really rev up the motor creating pressure on the water pump cover.

Also and very important, check for coolant in your oil, coolant loss can be from a faulty head gasket.

It can also be from a faulty water pump seal allowing coolant to enter the crank case. Unfortunately I have experienced this.

How can you tell if you have a bad pump seal or bad head gasket? I had water in my oil on my 04.5 500 HO.

Ecellent question Lonewolf. My tech first did a compression check. If there would have been a problem with th bolts/head gasket it would have shown at the test. As there was no problem there he addressed the water pump seal.

Looking at my spelling, I think I have had too many beers. But I think you get my point.
