I have a Magellan ColorTrak GPS mounted on my SP500. I bought the vehical mounting braket and the external antenna and took them apart to adapt them to my ATV. It works great and has stood up to plenty of dirt, dust, and water. I wouldn't go riding with out it.

Garmin makes several models that are very easy to use and compact. I use a Garmin GPS 12 its cheap, accurate, small, and does not eat batteries when not using the dc adapter. The types mentioned in the previous post are also very good.
A GPS has help me many times in the past when riding in a new areas.

truck,
My first gps was a Magellan. I now also have the Garmin gps12 (about $150) which I like much better. It obtains fixes almost instantly & has 4 pages which would more that cover any situation you could be in . It is capable of interfacing with your computer for making map printouts, etc.It has more bells & whistles than I will ever use, including top speed, current speed, miles traveled, & stores I believe, 100 way points. I have two mounts, one for my KQ, and one for my Warrior. They are bullet proof and allow you to read your gps while riding. They have survived the Baja with no problems, not with me but with Glen Copeland, the inventor of the mounts. His web site is below if you're interested. He also sells Magellan gps's.
BTW, on his home page, the bike you see getting major air above the quad is Glen.

I have a magellan 2000. It seems quite complicated to use but I am finally comfortable with it. I had to buy a $60.00 accessory to use the power plug on my wheeler. This also requires you to remove the battery pack. This gps is 2yrs old. I really enjoy having a gps but are their new ones that just allow you to plug in a power cord when you have a 12volt supply
