I'm planning on changing the coolant in my '00 SP500 soon. Is there anything special i should do or any tricks to doing this(purging air, stuff like that)? Trying to prevent any blunders on my part. How much coolant should i get for this? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Did this on my Xplorer not too long ago.
One gallon of premixed anti-freeze should more than do it. If you get the concentrate, be sure to mix it before you pour it in.
On the top of the head (On my machine anyway) there is a bolt with a phillips screw head, as well as the usual hex head. This is the coolant air bleeder. Loosen it as you fill the radiator until air bubbles quit coming out. Start it up & let it run a while with the radiator cap off, ready to add more coolant as the level drops (it likely will a little).

After the level stabalizes, put the cap on, drive around 5 minutes or so, let it cool off, and check to be sure everything is still full. If it is, you should be set to go.

Be ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY SURE that the coolant does not contain "Silicates" !!!! These are small sand like particles that will ruin thr seal in the water pump. They are added to automotive coolant to keep corrosion to a minimum within the cooling system.
Honda motorcycle coolant contains no silicates and is mixed with distilled water to a 50 / 50 mix.
Besides, I'm told that the Honda Coolant is worth 5 MPH on the top end simply because of the name on the bottle.... LOL
