I have a basic knowledge of how CVT works, but could anyone point me to a good thread or site that explains in detail exactly how the belt works in relation to increased rpms, shifting, etc. I need a better understanding before I order my clutch kit from Rick or HPD although I know Rick won't stear me wrong. I would just like to have a better working knowledge of it before I give either a call and order one. I got enough power to put to the ground, so now I just want to know how to effectively set up the CVt to get it there with the least amount of experimenting. It's not that I can't afford to experiment money wise, it's the time that's killing me. Anyway, thanks guys and gals for the input past and present. It's helped me tremendously.

Aaen sells what they call a 'clutch tuning handbook' that will tell you more than you ever though you needed to know about how a CVT transmission works, and how to modify them. The book lists charts showing the different weights & springs, and explains how to read the chart pretty well. It is VERY detailed, and will likely need to be read 2 or 3 times before you understand it all. 262-552-8981

I wouldn't be too worried about just asking Rick what he would suggest as he won't steer you wrong.

Right now I have a brown primary that Rick sent me and the original one on the secondary. it pulls real hard on take off up to about 45 mph or so then it seems to just quit pulling altogether. It's not that it doesn't stop gaining mph after that, it just seems to loose its pull. Could this be becuase I have the wrong primary or seecondary spring for my setup? Could it be that I need a complete clutch kit or is this normal for my setup and if I want more top end then maybe porting and reeds with a spacer should be in order? I know it's really hard for someone to diagnose this just by information that I am imputing here, but any and all suggestions will be taken seriously. Please understand, very few people around this area have a Scram like mine and to prove my point then get this....I took the bike down to the Polaris dealer a few miles away and explained what I was talking about and he had a mechanic take it for a ride and all I got in repsonse from him was "Damn I gotta get me one of these. I didn't know they could do that!" He then told me that I was crazy and to leave it alone. Now I do mostly riding in the woods down trails and such(plenty of mud) and it will go from corner to corner fast enough. But I would also like to be able to take it out other places which are more open and would require more top end. Thanks everyone!

Don't mean todrag this on, but could it be that the brown primary spring I have right now has too high of a shift rate?

Just wanted to let ya'll know that I found the info I was looking for on the CVT. HPD has a spec chart that prety much answered the bulk of the info I was looking for(spring rate chart). But depending on what reponses i get about the previous reply on my top end problem, then maybe I'll give Rick a call. Thanks again.
