Anybody have any recommendations for a pipe, clutch, and carb kit/mods for a '98 Scrambler 500? I've been looking at RCR and HPD, but I'm not sure which is better for what I want. I'm looking for the same or better take off speed and a higher top end. I do mostly trail riding and drag racing with my friends. And we throw in a few hills to climb every now and then too. Right now it is completely stock except for a K&N. Any help greatly appreciated.

OK, I gotta ask... What is a '99 BROKE?... Is that financially broke from previous purchases? Or broken quad?..hahahhaa...
On the mods, I would go with RCR or look at the kit Highlifter has put together for them... I think with some "surfing" you can get all the exact same parts that Highlifter sells in their kit at a cheaper total price... You just won't have the tech support to go along with it...
I have only heard good things about RCR... We've installed an RCR Stage 1 "LOW END" kit on a 96 Sportsman 400 and let me be the first to say.. "That B!t@h Was BAD!!.." Running 26x12 Vampires on all four corners and a steel bumper with a Rule winch on front. It would still stand the front end up!!!...
If RCR puts kits together for the 4 strokes as well as the 2-strokes.. THAT would be where I would spend my nickels...

I have the Aean Roller Clutch kit, Megaphone exhaust pipe, 42mm Mikuni Carb and a Dayco Top cog belt. It's very fast especially since i removed 20 pounds or so.

You can call and talk to either HPD or RCR, I would call RCR personaly. They have REALLY good customer service, and he (Rick) will be completely honest with you. He isn't afraid to say if somthing does better for a specific condtion than his products. I think he even sells both HPD & his own (RCR) pipe for the 500.

The only carb kits I have seen are from Hot Seat & Aaen, both are 42mm TMX. As far as clutching goes, that's a matter of preferance. Some like high engagement, some low, some mid, etc... Most any company that sells clutch kits will tell you what you need for your riding style, conditions, and mods on your bike, and how much you want to spend. You can spend anywhere from $20 to $300 on clutching, and probaly more, depending on what you want.

Mudmachine, since we are talking about a Polaris '99 BROKE CAN'T mean broken quad. Neither of mine have ever given me any problems (Except for the time I broke the A arm on my Scrambler, lets just say that was a LITTLE driver error LOL). Broke as in NO MONEY! LOL So, send all donations to... JK Later
Almost forgot: Thanks for the help guys. I sent RCR an email about a week ago and still haven't heard anything, so I sent another one last night. How long does it normally take him (Rick) to reply?
