I purchased my Xpedition 425 in Dec. and have not gotten it well broken in yet to test the top speed. Rangerchet had written in a while back that he had had his Xped. up to 57mph.
So far I've been very happy with the purchase of the Xpedition. No problems to report.

Smerk is right, I had it up to 57 mph. I was on a flat dirt road we call a forestry road. Not in the woods. I was alone and I weigh 160 lbs. I have no idea if it has more power then a big bear. With our expeditions, by power if you mean horse power rating, it dont matter to us. With our gears, we get lots of gear power. I peg the throttle about once a month in the summer for a few minutes only when I find a nice place to do that. My machine is
only just broke in to, so down the road the atv may even go faster as the motor gets broke in more. Fifth gear is overdrive, so it is possible.
I have no experience with a big bear though, sorry.

I have a thought about speed. I have read other people talking on this forum about speed. Like someone will say there atv could not keep up with another atv, stories like that. for me it is almost impossible to find a place where we can open up our atv's. I dont understand where some of
you can find places to drive that fast. In the minnesota forest trails and logging roads. They are all bumpy roads, lots of turns. Logs to drive over, downed trees, mud holes. Usually, if I am going 35 miles an hour, I am suprised. So all atv's would be able to stay together. Now, I could see maybe in arizona, you might find places to speed. We even have laws in minnesota that we are suposed to drive within resonable speed limits where ever we are. To tell you the truth, It scares me to go 57 miles an hour on a atv. I have not done that very much. Twice, I think.

I bought my 99 sportsman 500 because my Honda 300 4x4 with a bigfoot blackwater kit seemed like i was working it to death. I really like the power of a 500 cc water cooled motor has. Finding out it would haul me and it's weight 60mph is a little scary. Don't get me wrong I have had a Honda 350x and 250r three wheelers and a '88 250r four wheeler but this weighs as much as two of them.

I grew up in northern wisconsin and currently live in northern minnesota. When I ride four wheelers I constantly reach the top speed of my blaster and also on a scrambler 400 2x4. Logging roads, ditches, feilds and sandpits are all wide ope adventure areas. Unless it is heavily wooded or I'm just out for a Sunday cruise my wheeler is wound up and rolling.
I have even changed the gearing, airbox and jetting to get more top end out of my blaster.
I can't "ride" "wide open" in my car or street bike, so atv's is where I open it up and enjoy riding hard and fast.

To 88blaster, I see your from duluth. My home town
is cloquet. Seventeen miles west of you. I guess we ride on the same kind of terrain then. How the heck do you do it. YOur talking about driving fast
atv's to. Faster then my expedition 425 cc. I would fall off my atv on many of those trails. Not
counting the carol trail on hwy 4. Thats an easy one. As a matter of fact, thats one of the places where I could open it up. I guess you know how to hang on better than I. For me 35 tops, in them there woods. One cool place we can ride however, is on all those forestry roads in the superior national forest. If its a dirt forest road, its ours. But then if we were caught going real fast, I bet they might give us a speeding ticket, I supose. We are lucky though to have so many nice places to ride atv's. I wonder if it will be a wet
spring and summer which will muddy up the logging roads. Only about 12 inches of snow up north right
now. Unless its all melting the rest of this week.
