I need some help here. I have a '99 Scrambler with K&N filter, and jet kit. I also have a Supertapp muffler. I was going to go riding this last weekend(after leaving it set for a month) and when I started it up it sounded like the exaust was coming out my front end. My heart sank when I looked at my pipe and found a 2 inch crack on the bottom side of the bend about 2 inches from the start of the bend. Do you think any of the mods i added coulda caused this or could it have happened riding through the snow drifts back a month ago(about 15 degrees F), or is there anything else tht coulda caused this. If you have any idea or if this has happened to you, please let me know.

P.S. By the way, I have a site with pics of my scrambler and my buddies warrior at www.geocities.com/otherjay . If you check it out be sure to sign my guestbook. Thanks

The pipe is really made up of 3 parts that are held together with super strong springs. May be
one of them broke or vibrated off it's anchor. Or the anchor hole could have broken. I have never seen a pipe crack like that, check your springs.
Wait a minute, is this a 400 or 500? The 400 has
a pipe made of 3 parts. If you have a 500 that thing is running way too hot!

The pipe could have had a casting defect or something. Perhaps it cracked due to extreme temperature changes like getting splashed with ice cold water when it's like 1000 degrees or so. It may have started out small and got worse.

Snow hitting it could definately do it. This has been known to happen to snowmobiles.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I went to the dealer and told them about the cracked pipe and Polaris is going to replace the pipe even though the warranty has been up since November. They said it shouldnt have happened and I shouldnt have to pay to replace it. Thanks for your help anyway!
