I purchased my latest mod a week ago and now its here( hotseat 42mm carb).I run rcr top end kit,hpd aggresive clutch and v force delta reed cage.I ride at low elevation and warm weather.Any tips on installation and tuning. Is it user level material or should a mechanic do it. I was able to do the above mods myself(with a little phone advice from rick). What about jetting, will that have to change, right now i use a 270(stock carb) main jet with no problems. This is the last mod for a month or so since I am BROKE. Hopefully I wont lose to any more recons. Thanks

I'll check in the morning, but they had starting changing the slide and needles. The slide was one or two notches leaner, while I think the needle was one notch richer. I'll try to check the ID's of mine and post them. Hope you removed the aluminum airbox adapter (although nice blue anodizing) and are running the jumbo clamp on K&N....with the water repellent Outerwear of course. Hope you like it, mines been flawless.

Barely legal, keep jabbing and I'll probably get a small block chevy on the sport.(supercharged with nitrous, of course)!Rick thanks once again, but what is this needle#55 and pilot #10-#15.Main jet # I understand, carbs in general baffle me, I guess b/c I don't understand their theory of operation.Modquad I appreciate the reply, but your first two sentences were over my head.

Sorry man, the slides have different angles cut on the bottom. The needles have different tapers to them. Depending on both, they can either let in more or less air or fuel. Hope that blows the fog off the harbor.

Well the 42mm is on and the sport will move although the late hour prohibits a test drive. The carb came with 400, 410, 420, main jets, so i tried the 410. the needle clip was it the middle position. I cranked it and it sounded good and ran good, although the idle seems a tad high. there also seemed to be a mild gas smell to the exhaust(a little more than normal). It revs hard and high. On the short trip to the house from the shop the front did come off the ground, but like i said, a good test drive is not an option tonite. Well gotta work tommorow. Any more tips?

Count the quads jumping the fence to help you sleep. Don't let the boss catch you daydreaming about the test rip.

Well this is my second attempt to popst the result of todays long test drive . the first did not get posted. Anyway here is the lowdown;Off idle response is terrible, takes a while to make power. Mid and top response are great. What can be done to fix the off the line bog? Jetting up or down, needle clip up or down?
Beat a 400ex in a flat sand drag race, he whipped me for the holeshot but I was able to chase him down on the top end for the victory!

If you are not sure if it is rich or lean then jet it a step or two richer and if the problem gets worse lean it from their. Doing it this way will keep you from melting down if you guessed wrong.
