K&N Air filter for SP700
#1
I have been thinking of getting a K&N filter for my SP700, will this help me some more power. The main reason I want it is becasue once you get a paper filter wet, you cant dry it out.
Thanks for anyhelp.

I have got a K&N filter for my new Spruce 700, after breakin I'm going to do a couple of timed runs down a back road ( about 500 yards ) with the stock air filter, then I'm going to put the K&N in and do a couple of timed runs same distance. If my time is the same or faster I should not have to rejet. This is because if you run a four stroke to lean you will lose power. I will of course do a plug check, but if I can get away with not jetting up (burning more fuel) I will.

With a K&N filter change you will need to re-jet if you carb is properly jetted right now. Unless you are looking to gain every ounce of performance, the K&N may not be such a great choice. I've run them on lots of equipment in the past and still do, but there are times when it leaves a lot to be desired. In extreme dust you must run an outerwear filter which cuts about 15% of the flow. The filters with a foam outer oiled filter that can be cleaned are a far better choice. Also, your mileage "might" go way down with a K&N. Some bikes lose as much as 30%. Hard to believe isn't it. K&N even admittted that this "can" occur on certain bikes after we called them. You will not notice the performance difference unless you do other modifications that can take advantage of the increased air flow.
For what it's worth . . .
