In the April issue of "Dirt Wheels" there is a readers ride Sportsman 500 that had the clutch wieghts, carb and cam from a Scrambler 500 installed. The owner claimed that these mods. really woke up the big Sportsman. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this? Is it cheaper than aftermarket? Are the gains worth the expense?

Thanks,

In 98 polaris added 20%more power to the Scramler 500 motor and left the SP500 alone. From what I read the only differance between the two engines is the cam, carburator and cluch weights. You can read the Dirt wheels letter under "Sportier Sportman" in this forum ,it seem the guy was very happy with his results.
