Which one so you all think would be better a 400 or 500. I am going to use it for trail riding/mudding, and medium farm work.

I myself have a 97 scrambler 400 4x4. It is a blast. I have a buddy I ride with that has the 500 scrambler 4x4. I suggest, if you are not going to "hot rod" or modify your atv, I'd go with the 500. Especially for just "playing" or working around the farm. Now if you are wanting to modify or upgrade to a faster more race ready machine, I'd definitely go with the 400. The 2-strokes are cheaper to mod and you gain a lot more for a little. Just my opinion. I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you choose.

I have an 01 Scrambler 500 2x4 and I love it. jtrundle is right depends on what you want to do with it. I am looking for another Scrambler either a 400 or 500 depends on what deal I can find. I have never driven a 400 yet. I heard they are a little quicker because they are lighter. I have also heard you need to do more things mechanically with a 2- stroke.

I would say 500. Do a search, this question has been asked many times. Here is one example 400 vs 500
