Was riding the sport this morning since I'm off and it just died. Here are the details;I was going about 40mph when i noticed the throttle was no longer responding. the more gas i gave it the the more pronounced the the bog to the motor was. When i shut down the fan stayed on for a few minutes. then I tried to start it and it would not start but cranked fine. Well i shut it down and walked the few miles back to the house to get the truck to take her home.To my horror I discovered the air box fitting on the carb Had come off!!I took the plug out to look for dirt and I saw none. I checked the plug for spark and it had none. The plug was dry and dark colored, How do I continue the investigation. If the engine had sucked in dust, wouldn't the plug have some evidence. The atv stores are closed today and the auto store did not have the plug I needed.Any pointers. My heart hurts right now!

Sounds like the plug is shot due to a lean mixture. Change it, hook the air box back up, and see what happens. You probably didn't hurt the motor, but should change the oil too. The extra heat will break the oil down and you may have some fine dirt in it.

I'am gonna have to wait till tommorow nite for the plug since I cannot get one today.Man I hope your right. I wish I had listened to the engine while it was cranking before this happened, because now I cannot tell if anything is abnormal.

When you get it running again, have the compression checked. Might be time to rebuild the top-end. Whenever you get an engine hot it is not good for it so have it checked out.

If you do need to rebuild it....remember to Wiseco it!

It is pretty easy. Removing the fenders and fuel tank and it's all right there. As far as parts...if the cylinder is OK and does not need boring all it will need is to be honed. Head and base gakets and of corse, a new piston kit.

Good luck!
