Need help...leaving for Colorado in 4 days.

I've got the range of jets I will need to rejet my Scrambler 500 and Sportsman 400 when I get there. Some have suggested that I must change springs or weights also, why? Folks that have ridden up to 12,000 ft...what did you do? How did your machine run? I have no experience changing these. Is it difficult? I do have to change the belt on the Scrambler, so I'll already have the cover off, but when looking in the Clymer, it's a little confusing going further than that. Are you changing springs on the drive or driven pulley? Should I trust a dealer to know what needs to be changed for high altitude? Unless the bikes are going to run terrible I'd rather not have to worry with this. Jetting once I get there is no problem, but I hate to jump into this before I leave.

Totally, absolutely unnecessary. Unless you plan on racing at 12,000, or are some nutball that can't stand the fact his ATV will only go 50 instead of 55 at 12,000 feet, then do not worry about anything but jets.
And, if for some weird reason your quad starts sucking for air, remember the old trick of driving without your air box cover. -- Makes your quad sound kind of bad *** too....
Seriously, jetting per altitude specifications as you were recommended will do the trick just fine for you.
Have fun!

I have ridden high altitude and never changed weights or springs. I jetted my mag 325 down 2 sizes on the main and it was great. I am going to utah in september and I am just going to take the air box lid off. It is a pain to change the main on a mag 325.
