Top Speeds Again

Hey Guys, it seems like there is a lot of poeple here who worry about this, so to put my findings in here goes. I own an old police radar gun so I thought I might as well see how my quad stacked up. Both quads stock
Conditions: 90 degrees (humid), no wind, under 500ft elevation
Location: Mowed air strip for planes with about 2 inch grass (flat)
Jets: Stock ( I believe 230 mains, needle on middle clip)
Machines: 2000 400 Scrambler 4x4, 1996 Xplorer 4X4 (Both in 2 wheel)
Speeds: Scrambler 57 mph, Xplorer 49 mph (speedo read 55)
Pilots: Scrambler 230lbs, Xplorer 190lbs.
Just thought I would post this, because seeing alot of the posts here I thought they would both be a little faster. I am a little disappointed, but it isn't staying stock so I guess it doesn't matter.
Just curious, but could I have dropped the needle and a couple of jet sizes? If polaris' atv's are anything like their snowmobiles, then I am sure I could've
Any thoughts?

I figured I'd give it a shot too. My results we're verified by an on-board GPS.
Conditions: 95 degrees and really humid.
Location: Paved stretch of road about a 1/4 mile long and rolls slightly up and down (I wish I had a better location, but this is the straightest most level are by my house)
Jets: Stock with K&N filter and V-Force Delta 2 reed cage
Machine: 1999 Scrambler 400 4x4
Speed: 54 mph (probably could have done more if I had a longer stretch of road, I had to slam on the brakes real fast and hard to negotiate and upcoming turn)
Pilot: 185 lbs.

I gave it a go again after I added my mods (see signature). Please note, my run from the post above was with my Scrambler stock except for K&N. I guess when you update your signature, it updates it in all of your old posts. Conditions and location the same as before. The only thing that changed was my mods. Everything verified by GPS.
And the top speed now is ----- 60.6 MPH
Again, I had to slam on the brakes really hard this time to take an upcoming turn. It was almost like playing chicken. It now gets up to speed quicker and was still gaining momentum when I hit the brakes. I could probably do better with a longer stretch of road. What impressed be was a top speed gain of 6.6 MPH from adding a midrange pipe. Imagine what the top end pipes do!
P.S. Anyone know how to place a link to your webpage in your signature?

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the update. That is great that you gained that much for top end. It takes alot to gain anything up there. I am probably going to get the same mods you have except the machined head. It will have to wait though, I put too much into my pos of a car.

I have done some runs with my GPS on my '01 Scram 400. Elev. 2700', run on pavement with HPD trail pipe, plain clutch spring, rcr airbox mod, fmf tcII silencer, razr 20X11X10 rears, uni filter, boyesen rad valve, with rear sprocket guard removed and I reached a top speed of 69.4 with practically no wind. Oh yeah I have a 260 main with 30 pilot and needle second from the top. This thing also does great in the dunes. There are people here that just can't believe what my machine can do, and that is just with the mods listed above. Just think of their reaction if I had the HPD race mod.
