Go complete through the service list on it like change tranny oil, counter balance oil,hub oil,and grease all the zerks(dont forget the tranny out put shaft)Then ride the sh!@ out of it.THese are great bikes and when you want pipe it jet it and clutch it.

Yeah, you're going to want to do a full service to it. Take note on how the fluids look(color or debris).
I have a special interest in these rare Xpress's. As you can see I own a 300 version of it my self. It has been extensively modified. Looks nothing like it did before. The link to my pictures are old. My quad looks completely different now.
As for mods, there are many. Your best things to do are the pipe, jets, high flow air filter and of course your clutch. Be sure to know your riding style and get the mods that will best suit you.

I used to have one of those!
Yes, go over it good, grease all the zerks, make sure the steering isn't loose. Also, check the right hand side of the swingarm where it bolts to the frame, they were known to work loose there from time to time.
Change the tranny and counterbalance oils, the owners manual will tell you how to do it & what oil to use.
One last thing, with my old one, all it had was a mild clutch kit (actually, just a change to the green primary spring) a 1 - tooth bigger front sprocket, and a K&N, and that thing would do 65MPH on a good day. A real screamer! I kind of miss it, but on the farm, I needed 4wd.
