I was just wondering if anyone had any ingenious tips or recommendations that might help me when I replace the case halves in my scrambler. Also, what type of gasket material should I use between the case halves?

Thanks for any info.

SUPPOSEDLY - the trick on these animals is to heat the case and freeze the bearings. I would like to think you would freeze the whole crank assembly.....

I had a dealer put my case together last yr and it was not anywhere's near strait! I took it back to him (3 1/2 hour drive one way!) and he redid it, but told me it musta been hit in shipping 'cause it was fine when it left. Yeah whatever....

He shipped it back to me and it was still out, maybe not quite as bad as before, but you could see the clutch wobbling all over the bloody place! He told me to maybe run it a while to let it worm up and the bearings should pop into place - OR beat on the clutch with a rubber hammer to help pop the bearings.

Oh boy! So I tried to beat the **** out of the thing. If I helped it, it wasn't by much! I decided to say **** on it and put it the rest of the way together - if it blows, it blows. Finally, somewhere along the line the bearing popped into position and the crank is almost perfect now! Go figure. LOL!

That's what I did, a friend told me about it. I froze the bearings overnight. The next day I put the casing's in the oven about 200 for about 30 min.[make sure you dont have any gasket glue on them It really smelled up the kitchen wife really get's the red a$$]
Anyway the bearing's fell in with no effort. It worked great.tk
