Does anybody run an aftermarket belt on their Scrambler 500? If so, what brand, and does it make any difference as far as performance?

I've used the HPD kevlar belt. Works great, but after about a year, you'll have to replace both of your clutches. Just started using the 700 belt...seems to work as advertized.

Isn't the 700 belt an EBS belt? I thought there was a difference between an EBS and a non-EBS belt. Or is it interchangable to an extent? Like, it's okay to put an EBS belt on a non-EBS quad, but it's not okay to put a non-EBS belt on an EBS quad?

Just wondering.

I had heard there was a difference too -- but I THINK you can put an EBS belt on a Non-EBS machine. However, you can't put a Non-EBS belt on an EBS machine because it won't stand up to the extra strain. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

That sounds good to me. If nothing else, the top cogs should help in cooling/air circulation. I'll have to hunt up the infra-red heat gun, and do some testing.

Well, just back from a day of testing. This was the 3rd time out with the 700 belt installed. Today, it fell victim to the HPD Horsepower. It also seemed (just by feel, borrowed out the temp gun)to be running warmer than the HPD kevlar belt. This was done with both the primary, and secondary clutches being brand new. Payed very close attention to "degreasing" clutches and belts. Alignment, belt deflection, clutch center distance had all been jigged for confirmation of proper alignment.
The kevlar's on, and staying on.
