Going to trade in my wifes '02 Trailboss 325 for the new improved Magnum 330 4x4. But then I found the SP 400 is only $800 more than the Mag. I figure its going to cost me at least a couple grand to even get the Magnum, maybe I should go the extra and get the SP400 for her. We ride where there is a lot of rock so the extra ground clearance would be good. She likes how easy the Trailboss steers and handles over my SP500 and I think she is afraid a big bike will be too hard to handle. My SP500 is an '00 and its a bear to turn, even I get beat after a couple hours of manhandling it and that the only other machine she's ridden (got to do some front end upgrades). BTW, the 400 is only 60# heavier than the Mag 330, but its 200# heavier than the Trailboss. I know what you'll all say, but I'll ask for opinions anyway. Might want to check the air pressure in the tires. 1lb makes a noticable difference in steering. My 10yr old daughter has no problem steering our SP400.

Go with the SP400. No harder to turn than a Mag. 325 4x2. Also, can't beat the Independent Rear Suspention IRS=Rock crawling ground clearence. Not to mention Articulation. I love my 2002 SP400.

The 2001 and newer Polaris's have improved steering over the 2000's and older. Polaris replaced the bushing in the steering stem. This made quite a bit of improvement in steering ease. I thimk she would much rather have the Sp400. If nothin else have her ride both and then decide.

OOPs,

Rode the SP 400 last night. Wow, that is definitly the machine for her. Steering is almost as easy as the TB. I wouldn't mind even swaping my 500 for it either. BUT, the dealer only is quoting me $2k for trade in on the TB. That makes a huge gap in where I wanted to be. The wife is definitly on board for the SP 400 though. Looks like I have to try to sell it on my own to get more $ to ease the hit.

Now I'm wondering if I should go for the '03 Sp 400 or the '02. My local guy has an '02 SP400 in the color I want, but no '03's yet. As far as I can tell, the '03 has the Rawhides, digital speedo, 12" rear rims instead of 8" and the splicless belt. Other than that, the same proven machine.

HMMM, '03 SP400 sounds pretty good.
I can wait

(I still think they should include the EBS on the 400's and it shouldn't cost $400. The machine comes with the PVT anyway, so you should only have to pay for the difference in cost and not have to pay for the whole unit)
