I think the 500 would get the hole shot but the 400 would edge it on top end by about 1-2 bike lengths..

There pretty much even until top speed where the 400 has the advantage.

Depends what year you get. The 400 will win untill 98 then the 500 will win because of the HO.

I don't know you guys, I think the 400 even takes the holeshot. I have raced my neighbor on his 500 time after time and mine would always take the holeshot and the race. Mine is a 2001 and his is a 2002. He just got a clutch kit and now he beats me on the dirt but i still take him on the road.

the 400 wins in a short race, and the 4 stroke wins in a long one. (DW)

p.s i don't see why DW would lie, they're both polaris'

Hey rincon, and how would you know that a 500 wins long races? You don't own a Polaris. Well if you are right than i guess my quad is just above average or whatever you want to call it.

Hey rincon I'm sorry for "jumping the gun" but if you havn't noticed Dirtwheels is a little biased. And i don't think that something you read in a mag by dirtwheels can compare with the real deal. Me and my neighbor have raced the 1/4 mile and guess what, I WIN.
