my scramblers transmition casing has cracked 2 times since i bought it in 2000,wich is the year it was made.the first time happend with 2 hours of riding.the second time wich was august 5/02 i was on a weekend trip to the mountains outside of banff alberta.needless to say my whole trip was ruined.the first time it happend warranty covered the 900.00$ expense.this time its coming out of my pocket, and im pissed.iam now going to sell it and avoid polaris.so does anyone know what the hell is wrong with this machine or have you ever heared of such a problem?

If your trans case has been changed out, you may now have (not sure of the first available year)a trans case that has the provisions for the Polaris case saver. Walexa had one. A couple of things you can try:
Make sure to let off the gas before landing...when jumping.
Install an a chain tensioner. HPD and Hot Seat both sell them.
Use a good quality chain..Hot Seat sells them.
Keep the chain tensioned correctly and lubed.

polaris had some weak castings back the of the 2x4 chain drives.
cracks right around the output shaft.
I forgot what exactly they did to fix it but i think they improved the casting process and maybe added some addition webbing in that area.
(thats just what they said at the service update school)
you should be able to buy a newer style casing half, and if your mechanically inclided enough, fix it fairly cheaply.
if not i think the labor on it is 3hr 45min. plus parts.
