This is probably nothing. But are you supposed to be able to read
the lettering on the belt? Like, if you put it on the opposite way
the letters will be upside down and backwards. I thought I may have
read that somewhere.

Yes the belt is on with the flat side out and fins in.The belt only fits on one way cuz it is almost v shaped.Everyone says this HPD belt is supposed to be great but it has not worked for me!I cant figure this out and my new clutch kit wont get here for another week.

You said that you removed the secondary clutch, so did
you notice how many shims were behind the sheave? Maybe
you knocked one off!

I probably will hear it from someone about this, but Aaen's book says to sand the sheaves periodically. I do the primary with the engine idling (I know, I know) I take some 320 grit and run it up and down the clutch sheaves a couple of times and it puts a nice finish on it. Have to take the secondary apart, though. This would be the no no way of doing it, but it works for me.Bubba

did you really have to remove the secondary cluch? I took my belt off to inspect it and it sliped right off, is that bad?

ScramblerX, the belt really should not just go right back on. You should have to open the secondary clutch a bit to put it on or take it off. Lock the parking brake and put it in gear. push slightly on the back half of the secondary clutch while rotating it, this will cause it to open and you can work the belt right on. When removing the belt you are supposed to push down on the belt to open the secondary clutch then slide the belt off. these are the preffered methods of doing it. Bubba

They wont stretch, they just wear at the top side of the belt then go down farther into the secondary. Then it appears like it has stretched. Like said earlier, check belt deflection and keep it in range. Yah, that polaris power rips! Bubba
