Ccrambler 500 airbox & oil?
#1
Me and my friend were out riding just before when it came to a halt because he fliped his machine. It was leaking gas as i expected it to. But when we got it back over we noticed a lot of oil. We opened the airbox and there was a pool of oil. Whats the cause of this? I don't think this is supposed to happen. Any replies will be helpful. Thanks.

I can only assume that the Scrambler is similar to the Sportsman. If so, then that is from the oil overflow. My dad had that problem with his, and we didn't have any idea why. After it sat flipped over for 1/2 hour, his air box was full of oil. We cleaned it out, put in a new air filter, and it was good as new. Someone we ride with told us that is what happened. Personally, I don't understand why you would put the over flow there. Hope that helps.

Big Sigh of relief. Yep I knuckle headed around a turn and lost traction. I took a dive off the machine and it landed next to me. I managed to get out of it with a bruise. I hate tree stumps with a vengeance. Thanks a Million guys, i thought there might have been something really wrong.

Nah it's definately motor oil. Theres no way the blackish green is anything but a syntec motor oil. Thanks Though. Machines running fine.

the negine crank vent is plumbed into the airbox, and when ya hold em upsidedown, the oil in the engine will travel up the tube and into the airbox.
But..the 500 is a drysump engine that carries MOST of it's oil in that metal container on the side (where you fill it with oil)
soo you won't starve the engine of oil if it does go upsidedown.
just clean out the airbox, and check you oil level.
