If I were you, I would probably go with just a silencer. I don't think you'll see the gain from a pipe on a 4 stroke as you would on a two stroke. I just bought an Aaen silencer for my 325 and I've got to tell ya,I really like it. I got a modest power gain, but mostly just quicker throttle response. It has a really deep sound, and it's pretty loud. Not that that's a good thing but it sure does sound sweet. I think you get most of your performance gains (4 stroke) from your clutching, I know I did. I'm no mechanic, but this is my opinion.

do a filter and a jet kit, but don't waste your money on a pipe.

Dont know where these guy get off saying a pipe is a waste? The stoke Polaris system sucks. Its heavy and very restrictive.I went with a Supertrapp IDS2 system and it is worth every penny. But when you open up your exhaust you need to get a high flow air filter(I like UNI filters best they seem to filter better than K&N))and rejet the carb to the set up.When I did this it made my 425 where it would run with my 400 2stroke.

If I were you I would go with the new HPD power max kit for the 500. Its supposed to give a 7-8hp increase. A few riders have picked it up and they are really pleased with the results.
