I need to change the rear shock spring on my wifes Trail Blazer. I have a spring compressor. But once I compress the spring, do I remove the bottom part where you adjust it with the spanner wrench to get the spring off? Thanks

No,

Remove the top washer. It should be slotted for removal.

When you say the top washer, you mean the very top of the shock? I have not removed the shock from the quad yet. In just a quick glance there appears to be plenty of room to remove the bottom shock bolt campared to the top shock bolt.

There is a washer at the top of the spring. This washer keeps the spring on the shock at the top. There should be a slot on the washer that will allow you to slide the washer through the shock absorber rod once the spring is compressed.
