Hello guys well I checked the intake manifold And no splits in the rubber I started It and let It Idel the sprayed starting fluid all over it and no change in the way it was ideling. this weekand Im having the carb jet worked on.Im hoping thats it.when I start it and take the cap off the radiator it seams to be flow to the coolent. If the head gaset was bad would I smell anti-freeze while it was running?Or should I have a presure test but on it to check the head gaset? THank for taking the time to help..Bill

i've seen the 700 engine run cherry red hot, wothout any coolant in it.
it melted the valve cover and water pump cover.
but when i tore it apart no scuffing warpage or blow gaskets anywhere.
plus a bunch of quads that have been run hot, and no blown headgaskets yet.
if it was blown and you had the radiator cap off, then started it,the cyclinder pressure would pressurize the cooling system and shoot antifreeze everywhere.

The cylinder pressure will only pressurize the cooling system if the radiator cap is on. If it is off, you can usually ride for a while with a blown head gasket without it overheating.
I am not as familiar with the 700 as I am with the 335, 400 and 500s, but most engines work the same way. Even a chevy 350 with a blown head gasket will act this way, and the same rules apply in general to it as they do to any liquid cooled quad.

Well after I get the new jet put In the carb and It dose the same thing Il look at a new head gasket.A good friend of mine bought the 660 and his ran hot till he rejetted the carb and changed the gas to a higher grade so well see what happend Im hoping this well do the trick. But tell me this would I not smell anti-freeze burning if the head gasket was bad.?Bill

Polaris mech do you ever work on sleds. My question is Im a dink Double Income No Kids and I have some disposable income. Im curious if you have seen heads for a 700 rmk that would be compatible with 100 low lead. Same with the bikes. Its all in the timing right. I think you could run much higher compression because of the lower chance of detonation. Nothing like a little lead to keep your valves humming along. Im also gonna try to set up my predator for the higher octane.

Can any of you tell me where is a good place on the net to order the bigger carb jets I need. The dealer I spoke to todays told me it would be a few weeks befor he could get the jet in.Theres got to be a place that has these in stock. One more should I just get the jet kit or just the bigger jet itself.thanks again..Bill

try going with the K&N jet kit.
i've heard it makes good gains on the 700.
haven't done one yet, but think it comes with a new needle, pilot and main jet.
then you won't have to order one from polaris.
try calling one of the usual polaris tuning shops.
hotseats/aaen/riter/hpd to see who has the jet kit.
