Default 700 problems

I'm new to the atv scene. Just bought a '03 Sp700, rode a half hour then then noticed the waterpump housing leaking, it has been at the dealer for the last 11 days waiting for the updated parts to arrive. I'm getting very upset that I haven't been able to ride, and even more upset because the dealer didn't realize it was leaking at the make ready, or the fact the update plate was missing when they put it together. What I would like to know is, can I rely on this machine or do I have to worry about more problems.

I've been having some SP700 problems lately also. I walked out to the shed the other day and there was only a Scrambler sitting there. I then realized I had not yet bought a 700. Serious problem!

Is that a good problem or a bad one?

I bought a new 03 Polaris 700 also and the water pump leaked after 38 miles. My dealer got the new cover put on in 2 days and it hasn't leaked since. I had hesitations on whether I had made the right choice in my purchase (7k is alot for a toy) but after it got fixed I know the answer is a resounding "YES".

My fix was a new plastic cover with a metal plate, that is the same shape/configuration, placed on top of it to keep it from warping.

UPSman is 100% correct! i had the 'fix' completed on both my '02 and one of my '03 700's and the coolant no longer leaks! if yours leaks, have a QUALIFIED dealer do the FREE repair. then RIDE ON!!
