to Scram: in Germany the price is double due to custom 10%, GST 16%, freight 500$, and modification for road-registration 1500$, plus dealer profit.
the SP700 will cost here about 13500 $, which is quite a bit for a hobby. there are very few off-road trails here, so most people have to drive on the road to reach the farm or wood roads.
to hudonl: do you have a web-address from that dealer??
thanks guys, you don´t know how lucky you are with prices and endless trails. next summer I will go for a ride either Moab or Canada. but I must say renting is expensive, more than a Wrangler.
bye

13 500 is not that bad... my father bought a 2001 sportsman 500 HO, with the big bumper, the racks and the passenger seat for 10 225 $ taxes included.
so it's only 3 225 $ more to pay and if i understand well, it's including 1 500 $ for your road modifications.
and you got a 700twin... i'm sure that will cost you more then that if you import it by yourself.
just my opinion

It was my understanding that legitimate Polaris dealers in Canada were forbidden by contract to sell their machines to any purchaser knowing that the customer has their primary living address in the US. I tried a few times to get quotes from a few dealer (by phone and e-mail), mostly in Ontario, and all of them politely turned me down saying that they could lose their "Authorized Dealer" status for even quoting me a price. I don't know what the rules about Germany would be though.
