All boozed up and ready to go!!

Well it finally happened, or I just got off my lazy butt and did it. Finally mounted the fuel pump and 40mm Lectron. Had to fabricate some fuel line fittings and such, but the install was actually a breeze. The 411 Sport is now an alcoholic! I was kind of nervous at first, you know, like putting nitrous on the street car for the first time 12 years ago. But if you want to haul a$$, this is the way to do it. A race mod 400 runs hard, but nothing like it does now. I cant wait to get to the track and see the results. If anyone has thought of doing this, dont let yourself think it's real hard to do. Plumbing for the fuel is the most difficult and important thing. After that it's a cinch. I'll post the results after the next trip to the drag strip. Previous best on race gas was a 8.77 at 73mph in the 1/8 mile (660ft). Bubba

Sounds good Bubba, did you source the carb from Fasterthangas' info, or someone else? I'm thinking of the 44 just due to a pro-stock bike buddy's source. I'll have to get this firewall/e-mail problem fixed so we can share pics. I'll get you some pics when the engine and trans are done being polished. Did you keep the stock tank? Hmmm, wonder if anyone has tried the alky with nitrous? Seems to me from back in the bracket racing days it wasn't a good idea....but then again some not so good ideas turned out some fun rides

Ken, I bought the carb at a steal for only $100. It is an FBG (Fast By Gast) out of New York. They have their own pro stock bike and do a whole lot on these. I went ahead on their recommendation and sent it to them. It uses a double power jet setup. He made one of them an adjustable jet and made sure it had the right needle and seat for a fuel pump. He said if your only running 300ft races you can get by with gravity feeding, but sometimes we run up to 1000ft. I actually bought a tank off of a 96 model, but found out it was different. I like the 99 tank because they use 2 nipple fittings. I ran 2 lines from those fittings to the front of the bike just under where the oil tank was. It goes into a block tee with two 1/4 inlets and one 5/16 outlet. From there the line runs just behind the air intake duct for the trans. I lowered the angle of the outlet tube on the pvt cover. Just about where the end of that would be I mounted the fuel pump. It is a clean installation.I lowered the brake fitting about 1/2 inch and slightly enlagered the hole and run the 2 lines trough there to the block tee.
There is an inline fuel cutoff,a tee fitting for a purge line, and a fuel filter between the main tee and the fuel pump. When done riding, I can shut off the fuel from the tank, remove the seat, and hook up a small one gallon customized can to the purge line running back there and run it for about a minute. Bubba

By the way, had a good friend racer that ran alky and added nitrous. have to mix gas with the nitrous and inject it that way. Talk about some plumbing and work on a wheeler.

Lot's "O" tubing Did you ever get your case reinforced? By the way HAPPY TURKEY DAY to you, Dana, and everyone else out there. Thanks to the Big Guy up stairs, this beautiful planet, and the quads to explore it!!

Do you mean the torque strap? That's about it besides the race mounts. If I can find the right place, I am going to make some polyurethane mounts for the motor. They would still give some movement, but not rigid like the solids. Does your top mount still move considerably with the race mounts? That's the one that I would like to cure the most.Bubba

I'm talking about the left rear of the case....that's if my memory serves me right, Fasterthangas sent a nice pic. Basically a triangular piece welded in for reinforcement. I wasn't able to install the torque strap, due to the location of the nerfs...I too am gonna have to solidify things a bit more. Please keep me posted on your luck with the polyurethane units, I'll maybe pull on Darrell's ear.

Tell Darrell to make us a set and I will buy them. I think we could sell some for him as well, and I wouldnt mind paying $25 each for them. I know it would solve some problems, and wouldnt hurt anything considering how they get used.

Also, Eric is running a non-concentric model. Isnt those different on the rear left casing? I know our 99 models have the additional torque pad on the left rear. I founf out that our track is running this weekend. If I dont blow it up maybe it will run good. Still on the stock bottom end!! These are tough a$$ motors.
