Default MY thoughts on MY Predator!!! Its bad @ss!!!

Just picked up my Predator yesterday afternoon after shopping around and looking at a DS650 Baja and a Cannondale.

This thing is soo bad@ss!! If feels like it has powersteering, it is effortless to turn when standing still, not to mention when moving, it isnt not touchy, just very precise.

Stablity is incredible. I can stand on it and rock from side to side, on any other quad I can jump it back and forth from one side of tires to the other. This thing wont move the suspension just compensates!

The suspension is unreal. It comes with FOX shocks!! I went riding last night when I got home and I went blasting thru a couple washes that had some pretty crazy ruts, and it just effortlessly soaked them up! On the fronts the compression is adjustable by hand. No funky tool needed!

This might not be the fastest quad out, but I am betting that it is the best HANDLING. Its very light, but very stable. I will be riding it all today and getting it broke in and ready soo I can leave for Glamis Fri. morning.

The plastic kicks @ss. I have the Troy Lee, the only reason I went with it was for the black. Otherwise it it not worth the extra $400 dollars for just stickers.

I do think the starter button/kill switch/light switch is to big and bulky and on the other side of the handle bars the thumb throttle piece is huge and a little in the way if you have bigger hands.

It come with Maxxis RAZR's on the back in 20-11-10's which look sweet. I wish they would have done the fronts also, but I think they would have been too aggresive for the average rider.

I definitely believe that this is a 100% top notch quad. Quality is waaay above normal. I cant wait to begin modding it. Unfortunately it looks like products wont be out for a little while. Hell, I couldnt even get nerf bars!

My purchase price on the quad was $6399 plus I had some other bullsh!t dealer fees that they would not discount, but the overall price is well worth it.

Hope everyone has enjoyed my thoughts on this bad@ss machine, and for those who are waiting on yours, you will not be disappointed!!

If anyone knows of any companies making parts for this thing let me know!! I NEED a pipe, the stock is just not enough for me.

Ohh one other thing, no one makes wheels for the Pred. yet. I have to take my quad back to the dealer just to have my paddles switched onto my rims. I think I should have bought some rims and just drilled the holes that I needed. Oh well.

Soo for anyone who has any questions...ask away!!

Call up Rocky Mountain ATV and tell 'em you have a Predator. They DO in fact have wheels for it. The wheels specs for it are:

"The front wheels for the Predator are 10x5 4+1 4/156 and the rear wheels are 10x8 3+5 4/156."

That's a direct quote from the email I received from Douglas Wheel, and Debra @ Rocky confirmed that they stock those wheels. I've placed my order for a full set which Sand Skate IIs on the back and Dunetrackers up front. Should be here by Wednesday, and with my luck the tires will show up before the d@mn quad.

I also got the Troy Lee because of the black, not for the stickers. I'd rather have black and red than silver and red. My utility quads are red and black so this scheme is the exact opposite. I was all ready to pick up a Banshee too (in black & red) but decided to wait and see that new KFX700 V-Force in a few months.

So now it's a matter of waiting for Polaris to get off their @$$ and ship the freakin' machine.

Edit: I forgot to add... White Brothers already makes a pipe for your machine, available through your Polaris dealer. I don't know what the cost is, but I'm going to check. It's probably back-ordered like everything else. I had ordered a bunch of stuff to go with mine (skid plates, bumper, nerf bars, tether switch, the Maxxis sand tires, K&N filter, etc) and everything is on backorder except the tether swtich and the rear paddles. I'm cancelling the tire order because I'd rather have the Sand Skate II's.

The only thing about the "Polaris" WB pipe I'm leary of is that there's no mention of a jet kit being needed, so I have to wonder if this one might not be as free flowing as the WB pipes are known for on other machines. I'll probably just wait a month or so until something else comes out, or buy a SuperTrapp IDS2 Universal and have a shop build hangars for it.

Again, assuming the freakin' machine ever shows up.

The Predator sounds great until you need reverse.

Yeah. Now go tell that to the guys in the Honda, Yamaha, Bombardier, and Cannondale forums. They all make quads without reverse too.

I just got a book in the mail about the predator and it shows nerf bars available. part # 2874212 $219.99 is the list price for them. if you call the polaris customer service they can send you this same booklet out. it also has prices for different size rear sprockets, skid plates, and shock upgrades along with other things.

hope that helps you

Reverse is a non-issue once you learn how to ride without it. You learn after the first few stops not to stop anywhere that you'll need it.

The local dealer here (North Bend, OR) finally got the Predators in this last week. Their mechanics/staff were rippin' up and down the street in front of their store!! Sounds pretty cool, throaty and it loved to have the throttle cracked!! Did a lot of riding in the Oregon Dunes this weekend too and did see one Predator. Like Fryer says it definitely sounds like it needs to breathe better with pipe and new air filter. Overall I'm impressed with the fit and finish of the machine, and didn't find the "gap" in the plastic everyone was making such a to-do about on the tank a very big deal.

I rode mine at the Dunes all weekend. The power is awsome on the flats, but going up hill it drops off. The handling is very good once you get use to how easy it steers( stabilizer needed). It feels like your allways leaning forward and the front shocks are way to friggin stiff. overall I think it needs a little more bottom end, front shocks of some kind, taller bars, pipe maybe that will help the bottom end. Oh one more thing the shifter from the factory was way up in the air, I lowered it, but then to get it even with the foot peg like it should be it hits the lower frame rail when you shift down. Someone needs to build an aftermarket shifter that is offset or something. But overall the bike is AWSOME
