I'm just trying to get an average of what everyone paid for their Scrambler 400 2x4/400L "out the door".

AVT's are high priced here. Sport models don't sell much here either. But all the dealers around here want way more than MSRP

I went back to the dealer in the next town over today. I found that they still hade a '99 400L that they had the last time I went. The guy admitted he got it last fall. After looking it over for a while, I thought I could get a good deal on it because the tires showed several test rides and HEY! it is pretty far into '00. I decided if it ran out good and I could get a deal, I might just get a small loan to go with my savings and take advatage of the chance to get a deal.

I asked him to work me up a deal out the door on it and I'd take it off his hands. When he came back with a price, I had to be nice but I felt like laughing in his face. The price was $4,899. I could have bought one at another dealer new in 1/99 for $4,800. SHOULDN'T I BE ABLE TO BUY A '00 SCRAMBLER 2X4 FOR LESS THAN $4,899???

Howdie,

I bought mine from Champion Cycle in Wilksboro NC.

I paid $5662.00 out the door (tax and all) for a 00' Scrambler 400 4x4. I got to watch them take it out of the crate! What an exciting feeling! These guys are pretty cool and they cut me a pretty good deal. (purchased in Nov.) I am pretty sure that they would do you a favor on pricing a 00' 2x4.

I live 20 min from Winston Salem. There are about 6-8 dealers w/in an hours drive from me. I was interested in the Sport/2x4 at first and I got price ranges from 4599 to 5399. I called around and Wilksboro give the the 4x4 00' for 5200+tax and I dove right in. I am very glad that I decided on the 4x4 model!

Good luck shopping,

EC

Bought my '99 Sport in Nov. '98. It was the first one they got in so I did'nt have much barganing power. I was out the door for like $5K. With everyhting I've done to it I could never sell it for less than $6500 (even then I'm taking a beating).

I bought a new scrambler 2x4 400 last september I paid $4850. I called a lot of dealers, they would not come down much because they just came out but they had some 99 sports 400L they priced them to me for $4300.

I feel pretty good now too. I traded in a motorcycle for a 2000 2x4 scrambler brand new. I paid 4400.00 plus 220.00 to put it together. I didn't pay tax because of the tradein but it would have been about 292.00 for tax. So a total of about 4920.00 would have been the total all together w/o the trade-in. I didn't tell him about the trade-in until I got the price. Some dealers act like the price is fixed but I got the invoice prices from a friend that worked at the dealer so I knew if I was getting played. They won't go down too much if they know that they can get some other dumb-a@# to buy it for a higher price. Especially if they are selling so good that they can't keep them in stock. So you can't go in and demand this and that. Tell him you have a friend that is coming in too. Every little bit helps. I feel no guilt in telling lies. After all whoever heard of an honest salesman. You might save a couple hundred. Hey it's enough for a pipe or a helmet. GOOD LUCK

I purchased my 1999 Scrambler 400 4x4 in December 1998 for $4906. This is out the door, all taxes, set-up, etc. I paid cash though which helped.

I just picked up my y2k 400 2X4 Scrambler last Friday, MSRP was $ 4,949, I paid $4,800 plus tax for an out the door total of just over $ 5,018. Heck, it was almost $ 600 less out the door than the Honda dealer wanted for a 400 EX before taxes.
Also, the nice lady that sold me the quad trough in a gallon of 2 stroke oil, but not the synthetic....
