Default Might get a Scrambler, need some info

alright, i want to get a 2003 scrambler 500 4x4 and i was wondering if i could use this for a couple things,

1.) i want to do some work, i am getting a back rack for it and a hitch, i am goin to pull a little drag and some little trailers and carry a couple bails and a friend of mine has a 1999 500 4x4 and he pulls his ice house no prob and the belt is fine and some people i've heard push snow with theirs so i was just was wondering how much work it should only do before it is to hard on it (or the belt).

2.) Does it require much matenence?

3.) Does it have enough power for its weight?

4.) If anyone knows, what the towing capasity if i get a hitch?

5.) Can it keep up to my cousins trailblazer, wolverine, and his CR 125(dirtbike) on the trails and gravel roads?

thanks for the help.

im sure it can do all the work you want it to. i don't do much work with mind but any that i do it handles it just fine

2)i myself don't think it requires too much matenence but you have to do the regular things check and change fluids keep chain as clean as possible and oiled and grease the grease fitting every now and then .

3) i think it is pretty powerful ya sure it is a little heavy but it is pretty fast and powerful. probably not as much as it could be or compared to other bikes that size but one thing you have to look at is the other sport bikes that size being stuck when your not lol (4X4)

4)not sure sorry

4)if it is a trail blazer 250 im sure you will have no problem keeping up with the two 4wheelers but the dirt bike is a different story. but i don't think there is many 4wheelers that can keep up with any dirtbike of that kind (CR, KX, YZ, RM)

but all in all i love this wheeler a huge difference stepping off my old arctic cat 300 4x4 when i compare the two the scrambler feels lighter it is alot faster and snappier it was auctully scary for the first time do 60 on a 4wheeler mostly because the fastest the cat went was 45 and i think it handles alot better too good ride for a straight axle too.

hope this all helps good luck with your choice.

The scrambler is a good sport utility, but is geared a little more toward sport than utility. It is really quick and mine would eat my buddies piped and jetted '99 wolverine. I towed my buddies Rubicon out of the bush once with my old one and it did pretty good, but wouldn't climb the hills while pulling a 500lb quad. Not much of a surprise there! Be sure to get yourself a clutch kit though. Your belt and sheaves will thank you! Hopefully, now that they have the Predator out, they will put a low range in the Scrambler. That would make it one of the best sport-utilities around in my opinion. The only thing I don't like is the umpteen dozen grease nipples that need to be greased after every ride in the mud, although I think the newer Polaris' are getting away from that.

So, can it still do work, like on a farm and not wreck it?

You can do almost anything you want except pull a real heave load or haul more than the rack is made for.But for light work such as a bale or 2 of hay it will be ok.

The max rated tow capacity of a Scrambler 500 4x4 is 850 lbs. (By Polaris, in the first chapter of the Service Manual). You could probably get away with a half ton. (It will easily tow my utility trailer around, even in the mud -- which weighs 800 lbs, unloaded). If an AC 250 can take care of the loads you're going to be pulling, you can pretty much be 100% certain the Scrambler will do it too, when all else is equal. The Scrambler is a pretty good "all around" machine, in my honest opinion. No particular specialty, but it has a little bit of everything, which I really like. I've seen many with hitches and/or plows installed. And when you want to have fun, it's ready to do that, too! Oh yeah, I've ridden with many varieties of quads, and have never had any trouble keeping up. If you do a lot of fast paced, very twisty trail riding though, it can get to be an upper body workout -- but that's part of the fun, I think.
