Default Polaris 700 vs Kami 650

I almost bought a prairie 650 last summer also. There were other reasons why I didn't buy besides the common belt wear thing, but it was a factor. The only real screw up kawie did was the choke springs, but they did fix that shortly after intro of the machine. I have noticed reading the prairie post that MOST (not all) the people that are having the belt problems are the guys who run bigger tires for more ground clearance, probably not as many polaris owners are worried about clearance. I still think kawie could do a better job on the belt wear issue though. Afetr all that said, when i get my Trailboss paid for i'll probably look into a 4x4 again, but i think i'm gonna go with a manual shift. Congrats on the new ride

Buying the 700 just gives me one more person to pass on the trials.....

Hey a little friendly ribbing is always ok. Congrats on the purchase. I'm sure you'll love it.

I am currently looking to purchase one of the two. I have also read past threads of issues with the 700. Is there a build date that one can watch out for concerning the leak issue? My guess the response from the dealer would be that these items have been taken care of with the new models, if they acknowledge it at all. I have also seen multiple threads about water in the air box, wire harness and cv boots. Anyone with info. on the newer built models and whether it is know if these issues were taken care of. The problems I speak of are from reviewing early 01 threads.

I read on one of the threads that after 9/02 DOM the leaking coolant issue was fixed by Polaris...but I don't know it as fact. It is amazing when you talk to dealers how little they actually know about the product they sell. You can learn more on this website...which I have recommended to them.
Just FYI....I talked to five dealers today....one told me the 700 camo was having a camo peeling problem and thats why they are on back order right now until they find a resolution to the problem. None of the other dealers had even heard of it.

The dealers around here have a shortage of all the 03 models. I was told by 3 different dealers the military is buying a lot of them, especially the camo models. I agree with the article about the 600 vs 700, I couldn't tell any difference when I test drove them. I bought the 700 because I wanted the mossy oak.

Don't hold me to this, but I think that the '03 models have the updated parts.

You'll definately like the ride. But the thing is a tank compared to the Kawi 650. Have fun with it.
