Default 425 Magnum intermitent problem

Found this and my problem is solved...thanks

I have a 95 425 magnum and your problem sounds like my old problem. You stated before that your limiter switch was maybe bad, I thought mine was the same problem until I clipped the green wire from the reverse overide button and it fixed all my problems. The mechanic at polaris said sometimes it will mess up and cause different problems.I am sorry it took me so long to tell you before you took your motor apart. Hope it works.

So, by clipping the green wire going to the reverse override, that will bypass the rev limiter? If that is the case I will put a connector in this wire and disconnect it next time it acts up.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Wow! I have the same problem with my 1997 2X4 Magnum 425. I thought it was related to getting something wet. Let us know how it turns out for you!

In the next few days I will add that connector and see what happens. The only issue is to have it fail again. The last many times I have been out, the machine has run flawlessly.

If you dont want to cut the wire go to the wire block and unplug the black wire goig to the override. This will unhook the override but it will let the button operate the AWD light in reverse.

That sounds like a better option. Is this black wire at the wiring block obvious?

There are more than one black wires. Maybe someone can clarify which one. Or just try to trace where they go to. I just cut my green wire. Good Luck..P.S It hauls *** in reverse now..

Instead of cutting a wire, what module would need to be replaced to repair the problem if cutting the wire fixes it. Are we talking about the speed limiter module or sensor?

I noticed on some schematics on ronnies.com that there are two limiters? (350Hz and 650Hz) Is this true and if so, what is the difference between them?

52.99 seems like alot for that part. I think it is the 350 one. It seems like my four wheel drive has stopped working . I think I might have a wire wrong in my wiring block. what should I check to get the four wheel drive working. It was working before I started screwing with the rev limiter
