Default Sportsman 400, 500, or 600???

Hey Army, I bought the 500HO and I use it for the purposes that you intend on using it for and I gotta tell ya the 500 is a great package. I would go with the 500 and if you want more power down the road you could probably go with a perfromance clutch kit . I did the same as you. I liked the 400 but you had to add the EBS, the 600 was great but no pull start and the 700 forget it i really didn't want to spend that much money the 500 was expensive enough. Also I had the dealer add the front and rear tube bumpers to the color match of my atv(yellow) and I get alot of compliments on it Hope this helps. atvpilot,

Do you find the footbrake a little awkward or do you just use the one handbrake?

Yeah, but the foot brake I was told was like a backup and runs off its own system. I had a bombardier traxter xt (love the machine as a work machine but brutal on the trail) and the foot brake was right in the way ina bad spot.

Hey Sunshine,
I gotta tell ya I really like my 500 HO as well, I just thinkin I would love to squeeze a little more power out of mine and really smoke this clown in our club. He"s a nice guy and all but he's the type if you don't ride what he rides it just isn't any good. I have no preferences, it's what ever you like and can afford. Have and CRUISE EASY

It's amazing the rhetoric here …. Everyone is trying to convince you to get their bike ….. MY TURN The 400 can have EBS installed for FREE at the time of purchase …. Also, you mentioned pulling logs, you’ll most likely spin the tires before the 400 runs out of power (unless you're on hardtop) …. I speak from experience …

BOTTOM LINE – You won’t go wrong with a POLARIS!

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the insights. I've got a price of $6200.00 for a 500 HO. Any advice on extras I should add? Bumpers, racks, winch, etc.

$6200 for an 03? thats a good deal. I just paid $6450 and thought I did ok. The number one all time most important accessory is without a doubt a winch. I don't care if this opens another avenue of debate, I am sticking to my guns on this one. Best of luck to you!

Hey Army, I had then add front and rear tube bumpers and a rear rack extender and it looks awesome. I can e-mail you a pic if you like. The bumpers definitley make the difference. atvpilot2003@yahoo.com
